The District Gifted and Talented (GT) Department is holding auditions for students in 3rd through 12th grades who are interested in being identified as gifted and talented in the Visual and Performing Arts.
GT Visual and Performing Arts Audition Information
Audition opportunities include:
Art
Dance
Drama
Technical Theatre (high school only)
Vocal Music
Instrumental Music
Creative Writing (for students interested in literary arts at SCAPA)
Auditions will be recorded and take place at your student's school.
Elementary Students (3rd - 5th) - October 2026
Secondary Students (6th -12th) - November 2026
Audition results - December 2026, shared electronically as well as hard copy prior to winter break
The GT resource teacher at your student’s school will provide specific audition dates and information.
Your student’s audition results may qualify for formal GT identification and services at their school of enrollment. GT services are available at all FCPS schools.

District GT Visual and Performing Arts School/Program
To be considered for possible enrollment at SCAPA Bluegrass (grades 4-8) or SCAPA Lafayette High School (9-12), students must audition during the districtwide auditions, elementary students (3rd-5th) - October 2026; Secondary Students (6th-12th) - November 2026. Parents/guardians must also complete a separate Schoolmint application. This application is required during the district's special programs application window (November 2, 2026 - January 29, 2027). Students currently identified as GT in the visual and performing arts who are interested in SCAPA Bluegrass or SCAPA Lafayette for the 2027-28 school year must audition to be eligible for possible enrollment.
I give permission for my student’s audition performance to be video recorded, visual art portfolio to be uploaded by FCPS, and/or consent for testing for possible identification in the visual and performing arts and/or creativity. I understand that this is a closed audition, and parents, outside arts teachers/coaches, and others are not allowed to be present during the recording process. The audition recordings and portfolios will be maintained as a record of the audition and may be used as evidence for possible gifted and talented identification. Access to these recordings will be restricted to authorized personnel, including GT resources teachers, appropriate staff at the school level and adjudicators involved in the audition process. By granting this consent, I authorize my child to participate in the audition process and agree to these terms.
